Textile Residency

Our residency offers textile designers and artists a focused space for material inquiry and slow, process-led making, inviting you to fully immerse yourself in the rich textile culture of Oaxaca.

The residency is flexible and shaped by you. It is designed to support experimentation and growth within your practice, while fostering cultural exchange and dialogue.

Residency Overview

Upon arrival, you will receive an introduction to the studio, tools and equipment, and we will discuss your material interests, technical needs and conceptual direction.

Throughout your residency, we offer ongoing, process-oriented mentorship, with particular support in natural dyeing, hand spinning and hand weaving. If you would like more in-depth guidance, we offer weaving and dyeing workshops (2, 3 or 5 days) at a special rate for residents.

There is also the opportunity to visit Master Weavers and Dyers in Teotitlán del Valle, where we have longstanding relationships with artisans.

  • Our residency program is open to textile artists and designers at any stage of their career whose practice is rooted in material exploration, experimentation and handmade processes.

There are no expectations about how you use the residency. You might arrive with a specific project in mind, or allow yourself the freedom to explore the surrounding natural environment and be inspired by local traditions and materials.

  • Residents must be fluent in Spanish, English or Italian. We strongly encourage at least a working knowledge of Spanish to enable deeper engagement with local artisan communities.

  • The cost of the residency varies depending on the length of your stay:

    • 1 week: $719 USD

    • 1 month: $2,445 USD (includes a 15% discount)

  • Residents stay in a private bedroom, with a shared bathroom (shared with one other resident). You will also have access to a fully equipped kitchen.

Please note that residents are responsible for their international and local transportation, as well as their meals throughout the residency.
