Our color palette is created at our studio in Oaxaca, Mexico, from local plant materials and the cochineal insect. Under the guidance of co-founder Maddalena and her assistants, we develop special hues and saturations for each custom project.
We use natural dyes following the logic of color theory. Cochineal (red), indigo (blue) and marigold (yellow) are our primary colors. By mixing them, we get secondary colors: shades of green, purple and orange. Following this logic, we create infinite variations of color by mixing natural dyes in different proportions. Our vibrant palette emerges from a complex process of superimposing colors.
Due to the nature of natural dyes, achieving exact color matches is not guaranteed. The end result is influenced by various factors, thereby producing a truly unique and special final product. In addition to our wide range of wool colors, we also utilize various warp thread colors, which significantly influence the final visual outcome of our products. Each wool color is thoughtfully paired with the warp thread that best enhances its beauty.
